Starting my journey of sewing technical gear and bags. So far I am most proud of this basket bag! Anyone else into the MYOG scene?

Hey software people, I do lots of coding for my research and I’m having trouble organizing my to-do’s. I’m looking for a program that lets me organize the big topics I need to get done, add subtopics to the main ones, and tag/visualize how they interconnect. Something better than a checklist. Ideas?
Turns out I had two Overleaf accounts for writing in LaTeX - one was with my grad school, the other with my undergrad (which got deleted). Guess which one my CV was on?
Which reminds me, how does ‘em’ even work for document measurements?
My #adayinthelife photo might seem mundane, but research conferences like these drive discussions which further our field. Taken at the Texas APS meeting, Rice University, Houston. 11:00 AM, 10/14/2022.
Finally was able to see a coral reef! Pictured: a Moorish Idol, Christmas Wrasse, Picasso Triggerfish, Saddleback Butterfly, Pocillopora (cauliflower coral), Zoanthid, Convict Tang school, and an Achilles Tang. Best day ever! ๐ ๐ก๐
I may not have mentioned it yet, but my area of research in physics is known as Space Physics. The field studies the interactions between the Sun and the Earth, from the solar wind to the magnetic field surrounding our planet, all the way down to the ionosphere where we see the northern lights. I was recently able to attend the GEM (geospace environment modeling) conference in Honolulu to network and discuss the latest research in the field. Here’s the group from UTA:
However, I will say that the best part of this trip was fulfilling my lifelong dream to see a coral reef! Stay tuned for that! ๐๐ฐ
Slowly but surely I’m figuring out Arlington. Today we visited River Legacy Park and took a short hike there. It was hot! No greenery, but a flowing (not frozen) river was weird.
Time sure flies! After finishing a mostly uneventful first semester, Tova has decided to join me on the big move back to Texas! After a two day road trip it is time to start a new semester and also a new adventure! Even the fish came along for the ride!
As I get ready to transition my life across the country for grad school, itโs important to stop and reflect on the things that make you happy. Hereโs a quick picture of my girlfriend Tova and her dog Otis. Iโm going to miss them both.
My latest project is converting a small 5 gallon (19 liter) tank I had on hand into an all-in-one invertebrate tank. So far the project cost is $9.87 for the return pump plumbing and $7.99 for the acrylic.
Here are my latest drafted plans for the overflow:
